Tech Conference!

This is a free conference at UMSL, part of a regional effort. Wash U.
is NOT one of the sponsoring institutions, but I've been told by
their coordinator that this doesn't matter. You can attend sessions as long
as you preregister online. The full program will be available some time
soon this month.

Stacy and I are planning to attend (would Thursday work for you, Stacy?
I don't think I can do both.) Perhaps we could have a GSSW contingent going!

The information is below; you can also go directly to
UMSL's Center for Teaching and Learning.

Learning: Impact and Evidence is the theme of the sixth
annual campus-wide conference highlighting instructional
innovations. This year's regional conference is being planned
by Maryville University, Saint Louis University, St. Louis Community
College, as well as the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Workshops and
concurrent session presentations will be solicited from among faculty,
staff, and Teaching Assistants in the greater St. Louis area.

Keynote presenters include Dwight W. Allen, Eminent
Scholar of Educational Reform, Old Dominion University and
Charles Dziuban, Director of the Research Initiative for Teaching
Effectiveness, University of Central Florida. Allen's Thursday
plenary and Dziuban's Friday plenary anchor two days of
presentations by colleagues from campuses across the metropolitan region.

The 2007 program begins Thursday, November 1 with
pre-conference workshops at 9:30-11:30 AM and 1:00-2:45 PM.
The conference kick-off plenary address by Dwight Allen is scheduled
at 3:00 PM, followed by a sponsored reception at 4:30 PM. On
Friday, November 2, concurrent sessions are scheduled
9:00 AM - 12:30 PM. Businesses serving higher education campuses
in the metro area are invited to participate in a Vendors Exhibit. For more
information about conference events, workshops and concurrent sessions,
please check back after October 1 for the complete conference
program.

Please contact Cheryl Bielema, for additional information.
